Most people are imprisoned by a desk for 9 to 10 hours a day. But, there’s a small part of society that’s nomadic, i.e. using the internet to work. These people are able to live what many people consider the dream life. They travel and work anywhere and everywhere. What’s life like for these digital nomads? What do they do all day? And how do they get any work done while relaxing on the beach?

What Is Daily Life Like?
Although it differs from person to person, life for digital nomads is not always what you might think it to be. There’s a label attached to “work from home” or “work on the go” people and digital nomads often face an impossible task of trying to get work done while others constantly interrupt them.
This is true for work at home moms and dads, as well as independent contractors with demanding family members. Because a person is home or “out and about,” it’s presumed that they can do errands for others. They’re not tied to a desk, after all.
But, they are busy people, the same as you. In fact, they face even tougher challenges, since they have to fight the urge to lack off constantly.
For some people, travelling is wide ranging. They’re not just working down the street at the local coffee shop. They’re moving all over the world. Some people work all over a city and then take trips around the world, for weeks or even months at a time. How can they do that? Well, part of the secret is in technology.
For example, services like Airbnb are used to find affordable places to stay when out of town. Since a lot of apartments and homes rented through this service are cheaper than staying in a hotel, and since many homes have wifi these days. As long as there’s a dependable wifi connection, work can be done anywhere.
Work gets accomplished like with any other job but with some adjustments, like dedicating a space that is solely used for working.
Some people even use special apps that stop them from visiting social media sites and other time wasting websites.
Still, there must be a fair trade off between income and freedom. Sure, the more work that can get done means the more money that can be made, but there must also be some space built in to enjoy the experience on working in a foreign land or at that coffee shop.
What Do Digital Nomads Do When Not Working?
During idle time, digital nomads do all sorts of things. Visiting with newly made friends, exploring the city they currently find themselves, taking pictures, work on their memoires…anything.
There’s a strong sense of work/life balance with this profession. It’s understood that the more breaks one can take during the day, the more work gets done, within reason. It has to do with creativity and workflow. Jobs that can be made nomadic also tend to be in the creative fields like writing, programming, owning and running certain types of businesses.
This lifestyle does not benefit from a “nose-to-the-grindstone” mentality. Instead, people need downtime to refresh their creativity. Moments of rest intermingled with blocks of dedicated work time is the best way to get things done. And that is what makes magnificent life.
